National Water Week: 19-25th October 2008

National Water Week is designed to assist the community to take actions that help protect and conserve our most precious resource - water. Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has assisted the community in protecting vital water resources.

Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has worked with local councils and other organisations to recycle and reuse water resources and reduce their reliance on potable water. By reducing their reliance on potable water, more water is available for drinking.

The ongoing drought in Australia has meant that many companies must find alternative water sources as water restrictions and recycling targets come into effect. Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies can apply their innovative technologies and expertise and allow municipal and industrial customers to build their own water treatment plant.

Recycling water for industrial and agricultural use is of key importance in Australia.

Treated water is suitable for irrigation of fields, recreational areas, for industrial reuse (process water, boiler feed water, cooling towers, etc), or for discharge into sensitive environments.

Veolia Water is a world leader in water reuse, with over 40 water reuse projects in Australia, recycling over 600 Megalitres a day, producing high quality treated water. We are involved in designing, building and operating the new Sydney Water Rosehill-Camellia Recycled Water Scheme in NSW.

Please see below for case studies into how we have assisted local communities in saving precious drinking water & recycling water.

Case Studies:

Port Macquarie Hastings District Council, NSW
Engineers Australia NSW (Newcastle) Award 2006 (Three Villages), Engineers Australia NSW (Newcastle) Award 2009 (Wauchope)

Hastings Council have implemented 4 water filtration plants using membrane filtration to produce high quality drinking water and a water reclamation plant using reverse osmosis at Port Macquarie to irrigate local fields and sports grounds

Kwinana Water Reclamation Plant, WA
AWA Water Environment Merit Award 2005
One of Australia's largest treated wastewater recycling plants. Recycling 16.7 ML/day, upgradable to 26.7 ML/day using dual membranes technologies - submerged microfiltration and reverse osmosis.

Brampton Island Sewage Treatment Plant, QLD
Design & Build contract for the upgrade of Brampton Island Sewage Treatment Plant in the Whitsundays Islands, part of the Great Barrier Reef

Barwon Heads Golf Club water treatment plant, VIC
Design, Supply & Commissioning of a reuse water treatment plant to produce desalinated recycled water for use on the golf clubs fairways and greens
